Jamie joins industrial electrical talent pipeline
Jamie is enjoying learning from the team at EDC Electrical
The team at EDC Electrical is creating a pipeline of industrial electrical talent with its 19 apprentices, including Jamie who came to them via On-Country Pathways’ Job Placement Support Program a few months ago.
The 18-year-old from Lavington is in his first year of a four-year apprenticeship and has been mentored by us since late 2023 when he joined our Driver-Mentor Program.
Matt Grieshaber, EDC Electrical’s Operations Manager, is impressed with the company’s latest recruit.
“Jamie has a great attitude to work. He puts his head down and gets on with the job,” he said.
The company are accredited master electricians and specialise in industrial electrical work. There is a workforce of 80 across five states, including the head office in Albury Wodonga, so there’s plenty of opportunity for Jamie to learn and grow within the business.
“Jamie’s challenge is to have faith in himself. We are all about trying to help anyone get ahead and the mentoring he’ll receive here and from On-Country Pathways will help build his confidence to succeed in the workplace,” Matt explained.
A big milestone for Jamie was passing his driving test earlier this year, with help from our awesome driver-mentoring team, and buying his first car, a “little Toyota to get me from A to B”, giving him the means to get to work independently. And he has a big goal in mind: “I am saving for a Hilux or similar which I hope to get in October,” he explains.
“It’s a great environment to work in. I am happy to focus on industrial electrical which is all we do here, and I know Britt from On-Country Pathways is here for me if I need extra support,” Jamie added.
